The Major Egbert A Ross Camp # 1423, was organized in March 16, 1980, by descendants of Confederate Veterans. These men wanted to preserve the memory of their North Carolina Confederate ancestors and give the Southern perspective of The War of Northern Aggression (Civil War).
Our Camp meets the third Tuesday of each month in Matthews, N.C. and is in the Southern Piedmont Brigade of the NC Division of the Sons of Confederate Veterans.
Our mission is to promote, preserve, and protect our North Carolina Confederate history in an accurate, historical, and compassionate manner. In doing so, we remain loyal patriots to our Nation and the Constitution.
Our camp helps to preserve our Southern Heritage by being involved in the following activities:

-
Year-round maintenance the Confederate Section of Elmwood Cemetery that is in Charlotte , NC.
-
Participation in the annual Confederate Memorial Day which is held in Elmwood Cemetery
-
Year-round maintenance of the NC State owned Mt. Zion Confederate Monument that is in Cornelius, NC.
-
Monthly meetings that we have accurate Civil War-related presentations that help educate our camp members and guests on different aspects of the Civil War.
-
Continue to provide financial support to various Civil War related efforts and in the past we have made donations to install headstones on Confederate graves, reduce the mortgage debt at the SCV National Museum and we recently made a donation to the Fort Branch Museum to help repair their roof.
We welcome new members and membership information is available upon request. We're happy to answer any questions regarding our Camp!
Thanks

Bob Carter
